Natalya def. Naomi

Naomi vs. Natalya (Title Match)
Natalya took to calling herself the “Glowstopper” on social media ahead of The Biggest Party of The Summer. At SummerSlam, she proved that nickname was no joke, as the third-generation Superstar defeated Naomi to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
The challenger wasted no time going after the champion, greeting Naomi with a slap to the face. Natalya was ruthless in her attack, targeting her rival’s knee to perhaps soften it up for her patented Sharpshooter. Despite her challenger’s persistence, Naomi fought back, creating separation with a Russian leg sweep off the middle rope. The champion fashioned more distance with her patented kicks before nearly trapping Natalya in a vicious submission, but The Queen of Harts slipped out and locked on the Sharpshooter.

Naomi survived the first Sharpshooter and attempted a split-legged moonsault. Unfortunately for the champion, landing stomach-first across the knees of her challenger gave Natalya the opening to once again cinch in the excruciating Sharpshooter in the center of the ring, leaving Naomi with no choice but to submit. Natalya rubbed her victory in the former champion’s face, kissing the SmackDown Women’s Championship and holding it high above her head for the sold-out Barclays Center crowd to see. However, Natalya’s time to celebrate won’t last long. Not only will she have to contend with Naomi, but also Carmella, who still holds the Money in the Bank contract and can challenge for the title at any time.

The Welcome Committee vs. Anti-Welcoming Committee

The team of SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi, Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch attempted to bond ahead of their Six-Woman Tag Team Match at WWE Backlash. Unfortunately, they could not unite and overcome the dastardly tactics of Natalya, Carmella & Tamina, as the “Welcoming Committee” exited Chicago standing tall once again.

The Irish Lass-Kicker was eager to start the fight against Tamina, but she found herself overpowered by the second-generation Superstar. The tide turned in her team’s favor, however, when Charlotte Flair entered the bout and neutralized Natalya. It wouldn’t be for long, though, as the Welcoming Committee soon regained control by nefarious means.

Natalya, Carmella & Tamina worked as a unit throughout the fight, utilizing quick tags and employing distractions to keep their team in control. Their teamwork nearly paid off after Tamina planted Naomi into the mat with a Samoan Drop, though Charlotte managed to save the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Though she couldn’t secure the victory at that moment, in the end, it was Tamina who was the X-factor for her team. When Lynch had Natalya on the ropes, the towering Superstar rushed into the ring and distracted The Irish-Lass Kicker, giving The Queen of Harts the much-needed opening to lock on the Sharpshooter and force Lynch to tap out. The “welcoming committee” gloated after their victory, but the trio of Naomi, Charlotte and Lynch are determined to make sure that this rivalry is far from over.

PPV Recap, Elimination Chamber – New Champion

Naomi Becomes New SD Women’s Champion for the 1st Time

Time for the WWE Universe to bask in the glow. At WWE Elimination Chamber, Naomi overcame the fierce and, at times, underhanded attack of Alexa Bliss to win the first championship of her career in the form of the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Her victory, however, would not come easy. Bliss has remained champion in no small part thanks to some unsavory tactics, and this match at Elimination Chamber proved to be no exception. In the end, though, Naomi, arguably WWE’s most gifted athlete, would persevere. She not only countered Alexa’s offense, but nearly brought the house down when she bounced off the top rope and flipped backward, landing on a prone Bliss. The impact rendered the champion immobile, ensuring Naomi’s victory and putting an end to Little Miss Bliss’ 70-day reign.

After the match, Naomi became overcome with emotion, shedding tears of joy as the WWE Universe filled the Talking Stick Resort Arena with chants of “You deserve it!” As a result, Naomi not only begins her first title reign, but she will also have the honor of walking into WrestleMania, in her hometown of Orlando, as the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Match Result: Nikki, Natalya & Alexa Bliss def. Naomi, Becky & Carmella

With Eva Marie recuperating from anxiety and stress brought on by the WWE Universe, many thought Natalya and Alexa Bliss were at a disadvantage heading into what was supposed to be a Six-Woman Tag Team Match at SummerSlam. However, the third-generation Superstar and the SmackDown Live newcomer had an ace up their sleeves to even the odds. Nikki Bella joined the two competitors, returning from a neck injury that kept her out of action for nearly a year to guide her team to victory over Becky Lynch, Naomi & Carmella.

The Barclays Center came unglued when the star of the upcoming E! reality show “Total Bellas” arrived, but it did not seem to give her team the upper hand in the early moments of the match, as Natalya fell victim to exciting offense from The Princess of Staten Island and Naomi.
The tide turned when Nikki tagged into the match and planted Carmella into the canvas with a spinebuster, then showed that she was feeling “Fearless” and in peak physical condition by banging out a few push-ups. The trio of Bella, Bliss & Natalya trapped Carmella in their corner, wearing down The Princess of Staten Island and preventing her partners from tagging into the bout.

Carmella was able to scurry away from Natalya and send the Irish Lass-Kicker into action. Becky hurled her rivals around with aplomb as bodies flew across the ring in a flurry of Bexploder Suplexes. The bout soon broke down, with all six women brawling in the squared circle. When the dust settled, Nikki Bella clobbered The Princess of Staten Island with a hard elbow, following up with a TKO to pick up the victory.

The Total Divas (Brie Bella, Eva Marie, Alicia Fox, Paige, and Natalya) vs. Team B.A.D. and Blonde (Naomi, Tamina, Emma, Summer Rae, and Lana)

Alicia Fox will start against Summer Rae. They lock up, and Alicia viciously elbows her in the face before kicking her in the back. Summer forearms her back before having a whip reversed. They move in slow motion for a few moments before Alicia hits a dropkick. Alicia hits a scary tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a two count. All ten divas enter the ring, and the referee tries to keep the peace.

-Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Eva Marie in the ring with Emma. The crowd is loudly booing Eva, and she taunts them. Eva connects with a head-scissor takeover. Eva hits a snap suplex and taunts the opposing team before hitting a second suplex. The crowd is lightly chanting, “You can’t wrestle.” Eva hits Natalya with a hard tag. Natalya picks Emma up, and Emma slaps her. Naomi is tagged in, and she chops Natalya. Natalya fights her back, but Naomi begins kicking away at her before missing a dropkick by a mile. Natalya slams her down before hitting a front dropkick for a two count. Paige is tagged in, and she hits the Hart Attack with Natalya. Paige hits a shining wizard on Naomi before connecting with a high knee. Naomi quickly gets out with a double knee before missing an avalanche. Emma is tagged in, and Paige goes for a wheelbarrow, but Emma counters into a suplex for a near fall. Emma stands on the hair and pulls her up. Lana is tagged in, and she gets a good reception. Lana kicks Paige in the back of the head before giving her a forearm. Paige pushes her off, but Lana takes her out with a bicycle kick. Lana taunts Brie, and the referee holds her back. Lana mocks the “YES” chant before tagging Tamina in. Tamina covers Paige for a two count. Tamina hits a suplex for a two count. Tamina applies a neck vice, but Paige fights up. Tamina sends her to the corner and punches her. Tamina puts her on the top rope and goes for a superplex, but Paige fights her off. Naomi comes in for a double superplex. Natalya goes for a tower of doom, but they fight her off. Paige then throws Naomi and Tamina out of the ring and connects with a cross-body to the floor on the heel diva team.

Tamina stops Paige from making the tag and puts her back in her corner. Emma is tagged in, and she puts Paige in the corner. Emma stomps away at her, but Paige counters with a sloppy move into the turnbuckle. Brie and Naomi are tagged in. Brie clotheslines Naomi and knocks Lana off the apron. Brie kicks away at Naomi’s chest a la Daniel Bryan. The crowd is loudly doing the “YES” chant. Brie hits the Bella Buster, but Lana breaks it up. Natalya clotheslines Lana, and Tamina lays Natalya out with a Samoan Drop. Eva comes in and gives Tamina Sliced Bread #2 to loud boos. The divas continue taking each other out before Paige hits Emma with a fall-away slam. Naomi hits the Rear View on Paige before Brie knocks her down. Naomi avoids a knee to the face and dropkicks her. Naomi taunts the crowd before hitting a split-legged moonsault, but Brie kind of gets the knee up. Brie goes to the top rope, but Naomi is clearly on the opposite side of the ring. Lana knocks Brie off the top rope. Naomi tries to capitalize, but Brie counters into the YES! Lock for the win!

CLEVELAND — Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch’s tenuous partnership proved to be a fruitful one at WWE Fastlane 2016, as the two Divas put aside their differences and defeated Naomi & Tamina.

The two enemies-turned-partners couldn’t get on the same page after the opening bell, as they argued over who should start the match, then bickered again when Becky tagged herself in.  However, Sasha & Becky showed flashes of cohesive teamwork at several points, working in tandem to take out their opponents with a pair of dropkicks at ringside.

Naomi put an end to her opponent’s burst of offense by knocking Becky off the top rope, sending her crashing to the arena floor. Sasha’s former Team B.A.D allies cornered The Irish Lass Kicker, with Tamina pummeling her and Naomi showing no regard for the rules, yanking on Becky’s bright orange hair and stomping her face into the mat. With the WWE Universe firmly in her corner, Becky escaped the clutches of her rivals on several occasions, but Naomi & Tamina prevented her from reaching The Boss and continued the punishment.

Finally, a battle-worn Becky sent Naomi over the ropes and staggered Tamina, providing an opportunity for her to tag Sasha into the battle. The Boss came in fired up, countering several attacks from Naomi, and locked in the Bank Statement, only for Tamina to break  the hold. The distraction gave Naomi an opening to connect with Rear View, but she could not put Sasha away. Becky recovered from the beatdown to even the odds and focus on Naomi, allowing Sasha to counter an attack from Tamina into the Bank Statement. Simultaneously, The Irish Lass Kicker cut off Naomi and trapped her in the Dis-arm-her, leaving Tamina with no other option but to tap out to Banks’ hold.

Our Kickoff Show match this evening features two former NXT Divas. It’s Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch in one-on-one action.

Team B.A.D. comes out and they sing the 12 days of Christmas with custom lyrics. They should have done an edited version, the second one of them stalled for just a split second, the crowd — which is Sasha Banks’ hometown crowd that gave her an enormous pop coming out — completely turned on them. On second thought, they shouldn’t have done it at all.

With Becky Lynch out there, it doesn’t take long for JBL to reference Conor McGregor being the undisputed UFC Featherweight Champion, Finn Balor the NXT Champion and Sheamus the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The action gets underway and within a minute or two, Sasha establishes offensive control and we head to a mid-match commercial. When we return, Banks almost gets Lynch in the Bank Statement, but doesn’t finish the job.

Lynch is now making her comeback, getting in an extended series of offense before it was cut short by “The Boss.” Lynch regains control of the match and nearly finishes the job with her finisher, but the Team B.A.D. members saw it coming and interfered, causing a distraction which set things up for Banks to get her in the Bank Statement. Lynch taps out. The crowd popped huge again when Banks got the submission and the pin.
