Ruby def. Naomi
After Ruby Riott turned the tables on Charlotte Flair last week by defeating Becky Lynch in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match and boisterously claiming “one down, two to go,” Riott looked to continue her countdown on SmackDown LIVE, squaring off against Naomi, with The Riott Squad and Flair & The Irish Lass Kicker at ringside.

As Riott looks to gain even more momentum en route to her SmackDown Women’s Title encounter against Flair at WWE Fastlane, the rough and rugged competitor seemingly had an answer for Naomi’s dynamic and explosive offense at every turn, and she dimmed The Glow with a vicious Riott Kick for the win. It was now “two down, one to go” on the scorecards of both Charlotte and Ruby.

Riott Squad def. Naomi, Charlotte & Becky Lynch (Due to Interference)
With the conflict between The Riott Squad and the rest of the Team Blue Women’s division escalating by the week, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan squared off against the all-star team of SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Naomi and Becky Lynch.
The momentum swung back and forth, as both sides attempted to assert dominance while also looking to gain a critical edge less than two weeks away from the historic first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match.

In the bout’s critical moments, a surging Naomi was hitting anything that moved, but with the referee distracted by the melee outside the ring, Ruby drilled the former SmackDown Women’s Champion with an illegal kick from the apron, and Morgan capitalized by planting Naomi with an impressive jaw-jacking maneuver to pick up another huge win for The Riott Squad.

Naomi Promotes her Upcoming Match with Natalya

Natalya vs. Becky Lynch (w/ Naomi on Commentary)
As we head into SummerSlam and Naomi’s biggest title defense yet, Naomi joined the announce desk to observe a match between number one contender Natalya & Becky Lynch. Observing the competition closely, Naomi says she has a big Glow entrance planned for her successful title defense this Sunday. As Natalya locks in the famous sharpshooter, the announcers comment that Nattie’s glare rested solely on Naomi. Naomi says “that’s all she’s going to do is stare.” Naomi looks rather unconcerned as Natalya is able to make her opponent tap out in the ring. When Natalya goes to inflict some additional punishment after the bell rings, Naomi jumps to Becky’s defense. She storms after Nattie and just manages to grab a bit of Nattie’s hair as Natalya thinks better of having a confrontation. As the two stare each other down, Carmella and Ellsworth make their way out to the entrance ramp to wish the two women “luck” in their match and say “From the bottom of my heart, may the best woman win.” Ellsworth adds “And whoever wins, you lose!” as Carmella holds up her MITB Briefcase.

Naomi Interrupts the Carmellabration & def. Lana

Naomi Interrupts the Carmellabration
The Princess of Staten Island pulled no punches in gloating about her victory in the second-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match last week on SmackDown LIVE. However, before the F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S contract-holder could boast about her accomplishments for too long, SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi hit the scene to make it clear that she would be ready for Carmella at any time.

Daniel Bryan also entered the arena, cutting the Carmellabration short and informing Ellsworth that he would be barred from the arena tonight, fined $10,000 and suspended without pay for the next 30 days due to his controversial actions last week. Bryan then made it very clear that Carmella would be stripped of the Money in the Bank contract if Ellsworth did not leave right now or if he broke any of these rules.

A shocked Carmella quickly seemed to realize that going against the boss on this one may not be the wisest of moves, so she instructed the flustered Ellsworth to leave the ring, eventually forcefully escorting him away.

Naomi def. Lana
“Controversy” was the watchword after the conclusion of Naomi and Lana’s SmackDown Women’s Championship rematch last week, as a replay showed that Lana’s shoulder was up before the official counted to three. Because of this, Daniel Bryan announced that The Ravishing Russian would get her third opportunity at the SmackDown Women’s Title tonight on SmackDown LIVE.
The new watchword was “GLOW,” as Naomi convincingly defeated Lana with a swift submission victory. After the title bout, a distraught Ravishing Russian was surprisingly consoled by Tamina, who came to the ring after the contest and asked her to come with her. What did this seemingly random act of kindness imply?

First Women’s MITB Ladder Match Announced

Initially, we were supposed to find out Naomi’s number one contender tonight on SmackDown, but after an extremely competitive match by all the women involved GM Shane McMahon had an idea. He would come to the ring and announce the very first women’s MITB Ladder Match to take place during that PPV of course. Naomi, who had been watching eagerly backstage, didn’t seem phased by the news in her interview following the announcement. She says confidently that the MITB Briefcase will be a game changer, but the winner would have to catch her when she is down – which simply won’t happen.

The Welcome Committee vs. Anti-Welcoming Committee

The team of SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi, Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch attempted to bond ahead of their Six-Woman Tag Team Match at WWE Backlash. Unfortunately, they could not unite and overcome the dastardly tactics of Natalya, Carmella & Tamina, as the “Welcoming Committee” exited Chicago standing tall once again.

The Irish Lass-Kicker was eager to start the fight against Tamina, but she found herself overpowered by the second-generation Superstar. The tide turned in her team’s favor, however, when Charlotte Flair entered the bout and neutralized Natalya. It wouldn’t be for long, though, as the Welcoming Committee soon regained control by nefarious means.

Natalya, Carmella & Tamina worked as a unit throughout the fight, utilizing quick tags and employing distractions to keep their team in control. Their teamwork nearly paid off after Tamina planted Naomi into the mat with a Samoan Drop, though Charlotte managed to save the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Though she couldn’t secure the victory at that moment, in the end, it was Tamina who was the X-factor for her team. When Lynch had Natalya on the ropes, the towering Superstar rushed into the ring and distracted The Irish-Lass Kicker, giving The Queen of Harts the much-needed opening to lock on the Sharpshooter and force Lynch to tap out. The “welcoming committee” gloated after their victory, but the trio of Naomi, Charlotte and Lynch are determined to make sure that this rivalry is far from over.

The Anti-Welcoming Committee

With the “welcoming committee” by her side, Natalya took on Becky Lynch, who had SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi in her corner, in front of the UK faithful on Team Blue. However, before the contest could begin, Charlotte Flair came out to seemingly even the odds further and watch The Irish Lass Kicker’s back.

The two Superstars engaged in a hard-hitting affair, but Natalya caught Lynch off-guard for the victory when The Irish Lass Kicker was distracted by a disconnect between Naomi and Flair, who were trying to keep Carmella, James Ellsworth and Tamina at bay.
